June Open Month – Activities daily

Introduction
For the whole of June we’re putting on loads of events. We want as many people as possible to try a taste of mind-changing meditation and the revolutionary teachings of the Buddha.
There’s something happening every day, what will you choose?
NO NEED TO BOOK, just turn up, you’ll be very welcome.
There’s NO CHARGE, take what you need, give us what you can afford.

Summary of events
Feed your mind – lunch hour meditation
Every weekday, there are lunchtime meditation sessions. these will be led by an experienced teacher, suitable for beginners. They start at 1.10pm and end at 1.50pm.

Buddhism for Today on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays
A chance for you to take a fast track approach to learning more about Buddhism, or dip into individual sessions whenever you can. These start at 6.45pm on Mondays and 5.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Evening drop-in meditation
Our regular Monday evening drop-in meditation sessions will continue as usual, running from 5.30pm to 6.30pm every week.

OPEN DAY
On Sunday 3 June we will host an open day, with meditation taster sessions in the morning and an open house in the afternoon. Come and meet us, browse our shop and we’ll show you around.

Sunday Specials
On Sundays 10, 17, and 24 June we have day-long events to more fully explore meditation and Buddha’s teachings. Ideal opportunities to immerse yourself in the transformative power of Buddhism.

Sangha Nights
Every Wednesday we have any extended evening of activities for the community of Buddhists associated with Newcastle Buddhist Centre. In June EVERYONE IS WELCOME. These events start at 5.30pm with a shared vegetarian meal (everyone brings a contribution), meditation at 6.30pm, talk/presentation at 7.15pm. For more details on each week’s theme, see the calendar.

Sangha nights in June
6th June Introducing the Six Paramitas (Six Perfections)
Led by Jyotipala.

13th June. The first paramita Dana (Generosity) led by Aryashila

20th June. The second Paramita – Ethics (Sila) led by Akuppa.

27th June. Full moon evening of ritual and chanting.

Chanting evenings
Every Friday (except first Friday of the month) Saturday and Sunday evenings at 8pm we chant in praise of the Buddha and enjoy the tapping into the power of the world’s most popular Buddhist chant. Everyone welcome, doors open at 7.30pm.

There’s NO CHARGE for any events, please take what you need, give us what you can afford.
Suggested donations are £3 for lunchtime events and evening chanting sessions, £5 for longer evening events and £15 for day-long events. But please DO come along even if you cannot make a donation.
